American Society of Golf Course Architects

At the recent Golf Industry Show in Las Vegas, several American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) members shared their views on some of the industry’s top issues.

The PGA of America has given the ASGCA Foundation $50,000 to fund grants to help facilities attract golfers to the game in the United States.

Geoffrey Cornish, a Fellow of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), died February 10, 2012 in Amherst, Mass. He was 97.

Bill Kubly, golf course builder and chief executive officer of Landscapes Unlimited, has been selected by the American Society of Golf Course Architects as the 2012 Donald Ross Award recipient. The award will be presented April 29, 2012.

An increase in golf course renovations and a focus on course design and usage stressing the fun and playability of the game may be highlights of golf for 2012. Those are some of the views of the ASGCA Executive Committee.

ASGCA members go far beyond the stringent requirements set to attain membership in the world’s oldest association for course designers; that is the result of a member survey capturing in numbers the “average” member’s professional experience.
