BIG ARTS-Barrier Island Group for the Arts

BIG ARTS is now accepting enrollments for season 2013-14 workshops. New classes in art, technology, fine crafts, foreign language, music, painting, drawing, pottery, writing and discussion groups are available. More than 250 classes offered.

Summer Arts Camp at BIG ARTS for students kindergarten through high school runs weekly Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., now through July 26.

BIG ARTS is now accepting applications for its Classical Music Scholarship Award. Florida H.S. and college students with goals to pursue classical musical instruments, composition and conducting may apply.

Original musicals The Lillian Baxter Show and An Evening with John Vessels runs June 11 through 16 at Herb Strauss Theater. Adults: $42, children age 17 and under: $20.

Kids Summer Arts Camp at BIG ARTS runs weekly Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 3 through July 26. Activities include painting, ceramics, dance, photography, puppetry, improv, music, film editing, folk art and arts & crafts.

BIG ARTS Community Players presents staged play readings 7 p.m. on April 21: Paul Newman Hops the Amtrak Auto-Train, Waiting for Wilma and Oz in the Clozet. These readings will take place at the Herb Strauss Theater, 2200 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater, the only professional theater on Sanibel, launches its production of Fully Committed March 29 through April 27.

BIG ARTS presents National Geographic Live! Explorer Kenny Broad, 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 29.

BIG ARTS launched a program for community theater and staged play readings of works by playwrights in southwest Florida. All readings will feature the Community Players and other local talent, volunteering onstage and backstage.
