Center for Excellence in Education

The USABO, jointly sponsored by CEE and Purdue University, concentrates on stimulating students’ intellectual curiosity and developing critical thinking skills in biological reasoning, and culminates with the U.S. Team’s participation in the IBO.

The Center welcomes Senators Nelson (FL) and Cochran (MS) and Congressmen Green (TX), Honda (CA), Hultgren (IL), Rokita (IN), and Van Hollen (MD). CEE features RSI 2012 Alumni and Intel Winners Sara Volz (1st place) and Jonah Kallenbach (2nd place ).

The award, along with a $10,000 prize, acknowledges Dr. Tao’s significant contribution to mathematics and recognizes Senator Lieberman’s (CT) more than 17 years of support of the Center as a CEE Trustee.

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) and KBR will host two distinctive Bite of Science dinner events for high school teachers in Houston, Texas.

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) announces that 2012 Research Science Institute (RSI) Alumna, Sara Volz of Colorado Springs, CO, was awarded the $100,000 First Place Award in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search.

Teachers will have the opportunity to hear Drs. Rohr and Woolf speak about cutting edge research areas, view a laboratory demonstration if possible, and find out how to connect the research to the high school classroom and laboratory.

The Bite of Science events brings together teachers with leading and cutting edge scientists and/or engineers over an informal dinner. Teachers have the opportunity to interact with researchers from industry, academia, and government.

CEE sponsors the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), the U.S. Physics Team, and the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP). All of the Center’s programs are designed to assure U.S. innovation and competitiveness.

CEE has contributed to the scientific leadership of this country since it’s founding in 1983 by the late Admiral H.G. Rickover, the father of the nuclear navy and civilian uses of nuclear power, and Joann DiGennaro, CEE’s President.
