Since November 21, 2011 our critical access hospitals have dealt with a total of three school bus accidents involving over 100 children. We have had our response to a D-1 page tested repeatedly and consistently.

November is American Diabetes Month, a time to bring awareness about this devastating disease so we can join the movement to stop diabetes.

Chowan Hospital is proud to announce the certification of its Cardiac Rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

In 2011, volunteers gave 8,673 hours of service to Chowan Hospital, the equivalent of 4.17 full time paid staff members. Volunteers and clergy were recognized at an annual Volunteer Luncheon at the Chowan Golf and Country Club recently.

Chowan Hospital Foundation awarded nearly $90K to area non-profit organizations to assist with child and maternal health, chronic disease prevention and management and access to care.

Long gone are the days when family members were restricted from being included in the care provided to their loved one when hospitalized. Healthcare experts agree that this approach is outdated and does not promote healing.

Chowan Hospital president Jeffrey Sackrison recently announced that John Mitchener has become the newest member of the hospitals Directors Council.
