The Continuing Promise 2011 is visiting Haiti as its ninth and final stop on a five-month humanitarian assistance mission providing medical, dental, veterinary and engineering support to the Caribbean Basin and Central and South America.

The site for Haiti’s first Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute is now being cleared as they commence the construction phase of the project.

On the day set by the UN to raise awareness for the needs and rights of persons with disabilities in the world, Healing Hands for Haiti (HHHI) is opening a new clinic in Port au Prince for physical therapy, medical services, and classrooms.

We are very relieved to report that all of our 45 local staff have been accounted for, although many lost family members and most lost their homes. Healing Hands for Haiti International has established an emergency relief fund to support them.

Five volunteers from Healing Hands for Haiti International from Canada and USA will be joining Handicap International’s early response team and deploy to Haiti.
