Thirty-six entrepreneurs representing 25 companies from Mexico to Chile arrived in Managua, Nicaragua this week for the start of Agora Partnerships’ Entrepreneur Retreat, a four-day kick-off to Agora’s Impact Accelerator.

Nicaragua’s national police recently stated that in 2012, the country reduced its criminality levels by 9 percent and its violent deaths by 8.5 percent.

Managua, Nicaragua’s capital city, was recently added to Tholons’ list of Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations, thanks to its improved infrastructure, competitive costs, a skilled bilingual workforce and an attractive geographical location.

The agreement, called the Free Zones Minimum Wage Tripartite Agreement, sets annual salary increases of eight percent for the 2014-2017 period for employees working within the country’s free zones sector.

Nicaragua will be presenting its mining opportunities in this year’s Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention, after its successful participation in the world’s leading mining event in 2012.

Nicaragua inaugurated the first phase of Guacalito de la Isla, a 1,670-acre, US$120-million low-density, private beach community on Nicaragua’s Emerald Coast created by businessman Carlos Pellas.
