Southeast Ventura County YMCA

Money raised through tournament sponsorships enables the Y to provide financial assistance to community members, assuring no one is ever turned away from YMCA programs because of an inability to pay.

The students made peanut butter sandwiches, bagged carrots and placed them in lunch bags along with chips, granola bars and napkins.

Over 3,500 people drown each year in the U.S. One in five of those who drown are children age 14 and under.

The awards honor those who have exhibited outstanding leadership and who have made a positive impact on our members, staff and the community.

Proceeds from the event will support the Southeast Ventura County YMCA along with other local community-based organizations.

Each year, over 44,000 Americans die by suicide and for every suicide, there are 25 who attempt to end their life.

The afternoon will include obstacle courses, music, games and more. It is designed to introduce parents and their kids to the program.

Children learn how to respond if they find themselves in unexpected water situations including how to float on their backs, reach the water's surface if they become submerged, safely reach a pool's edge and how to safely exit any body of water.

On Saturday, April 29, the Conejo Valley and Miller Family YMCAs will hold a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active in summer.
