Vision For Equality

Yesterday, June 5, Lt. Governor Jim Cawley joined by the DPW secretary Gary Alexander and three County Commissioners announced their "substantial agreement on block grants for counties". Many people attending the press conference showed concern.

On March 14, 2012, the Disabilities Rights Network of Pennsylvania (DRN) and Attorney Stephen Gold filed a lawsuit on behalf of Vision for Equality and six other advocacy organizations in Commonwealth Court.

When Governor Corbett ran for election in 2010 he said, “Supporting our most vulnerable citizens is a core function of government.” 2000 people held him to that promise at a Rally in the Capitol in Harrisburg yesterday.

PA Representatives and Senators will be joining Vision for EQuality and several disabilities organizations from across the state in a Rally protesting the proposed Budget that will cut services to citizens with disabilities in Pennsylvania.

Today eighteen families and their sons and daughters with intellectual disabilities and autism testified in front of the PA House Human Services Committee against the cuts that have occurred to the disabled community.

PA Representatives Gene DiGirolamo and Thomas Murt will be joining SAFA (Self Advocates and Family Alliance) for their Press Conference on March 29, 2012 at 9:00am in the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg, PA.

DRN of Pennsylvania and attorney Stephen F. Gold filed a lawsuit today against Governor Corbett, the Department of Public Welfare, and the Office of the Budget over proposed budget cuts to services for Pennsylvanians with disabilities.

The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University, College of Education, will launch its groundbreaking website for its Visionary Voices | Leaders Lessons Legacy project on March 13, 2012 with a celebration at the Independence Visitor’s Center.

Vision for Equality hosted Deputy Secretary Kevin Friel on Friday January 20th, 2012. Over 200 people came to share their stories to prevent cuts planned to affect the disabilities community.

On October 6th, 2011 Brian's 74 year old mother fell down the stairs. Brian, her 54-year old disabled son tried to feed her for days before he realized she was dead. On October the 14th he walked to the neighboring Funeral Home to ask them for help.
