Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Department of Economics is offering a new business economics track under its Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree.

Rhonda Bevis, director of clinical education and assistant professor of respiratory therapy at Armstrong Atlantic State University, was elected as the 45th president of the Georgia Society for Respiratory Care (GSRC) for 2011-2012.

Armstrong's Office of International Education has recently established partnerships with JiuJiang University and Nanchang University, leading to broader study abroad opportunities in China for Armstrong students.

Armstrong will offer a three-week study abroad program in Ghana in summer 2012 focusing on the country's history and culture. The program is open to students at any University System of Georgia institution. Application deadline is January 31, 2012.

Tamara Porter, a senior respiratory therapy student at Armstrong Atlantic State University, won the 2011 James Ancil Lewis Scholarship awarded by the Georgia Society for Respiratory Care (GSRC).

Armstrong Atlantic State University Army ROTC Cadet Michael Wayne Holly has been ranked number 10 on the national Order of Merit List (OML) from among more than 5,600 graduating cadets. The OML ranks all Army ROTC seniors across the nation.

Armstrong Atlantic State University’s College of Health Professions, Mercer University’s School of Medicine, and South University have collaborated to start the Savannah Student Chapter of the Institute for Health Care Improvement (IHI).

The Armstrong Atlantic State University Hispanic Outreach and Leadership at Armstrong (HOLA) program has awarded $150,000 in scholarships to 18 Latino students to help cover tuition and related costs for the 2011-2012 academic year.
