LI2DAY has awarded South Nassau Communities Hospital’s Cancer Center with a $31,000 gift in support of screening, early detection and diagnosis services for medically underserved and low income patients with suspected or confirmed breast cancer.

Free health screenings for cardiac risk factors including cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI), and blood pressure will be offered, as well as screening for prostate cancer (PSA). Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

South Nassau Communities Hospital has been awarded a Gold Performance Achievement Award in Coronary Artery Disease from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get with the Guidelines program.

“The patients who receive this implant can benefit from the pacemaker’s size, durability and novel rate regulation algorithm. It also has real-time, cellular-based home monitoring,” said Dr. Kanner.

Mr. Morvillo has served on South Nassau’s board directors since 2004 and his support and generosity have helped South Nassau continue to achieve unprecedented growth despite a tumultuous economy for the New York’s hospitals.

South Nassau Communities Hospital’s 26th Annual Golf Tournament raised more than $277,000 in support of the hospital’s Center for Advanced Orthopedics and Long Island Joint Replacement Institute (LIJRI).

South Nassau Communities Hospital continued the expansion of its cancer program, naming David A. Silver, M.D, FACS, director of urologic oncology. Dr. Silver is a leading surgical oncologist and pioneer in robot-assisted surgery.

Kyongah Hwang has been named manager of South Nassau's Center for Comprehensive Radiation Services and Long Island Gamma Knife® Center. She previously served as a senior radiation therapist at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ.

Christine Hodyl, D.O., FACS, has been appointed South Nassau Communities Hospital’s Cancer Liaison Physician to the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC).
