The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) held their 11th annual Buddy Walk in Forsyth Park. The event was open to all ages and abilities; LDSS encouraged those in wheelchairs, carriages and strollers to attend. Pets were welcome too.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Kiwanis Club of Skidaway Island had its annual awarding of grants event. The organization raised a total of $62,500 to support local charities in the Savannah area.

Film producer and ice cream shop owner, Stratton Leopold has been named as the Grand Marshal for the 11th annual Savannah Buddy Walk hosted by Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society.

In recognition of September being Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) awareness month, Savannah Surgery Center will once again be offering free screening days for those who may be at-risk of the disease. The screenings will take place between 8:30 a.m.

The most recent Enmarket Encourage Health Education program included a $1,000 check presentation to the Savannah Tree Foundation, a 33-year-old nonprofit organization aiming to protect all trees in Savannah and Chatham County.

Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter is the recipient of a $1,500 grant from Macy's. The grant money will be used towards operational and program expenses.
