Training in hands-on work and mind-body skills are often cut from school budgets—and missing from real life opportunity. The Center for Metal Arts is building a program for just these teens who are missing the hands-on part of their education.

The Center for Metal Arts is opening a new program for high school students for introduction to the metal arts and blacksmithing.

Since Hofi’s last session in the USA in 2006 he has reinvented the German blacksmithing programs with his innovative techniques, and taught and demonstrated in Europe. Now Hofi returns one more time to the U.S, for a celebration of the forge.

The winners are in for the 2013 Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition, with a list of entries from conceptual works to wearable art, sculpture and mixed media constructions, the Center for Metal Arts announced this weekend.

The 2nd Annual Foldforming Competition entry deadline is fast approaching at midnight, July 1. Last year's inaugural event saw a wide range of entries from three continents, with many interesting and well-executed explorations of the folded form.

The Center for Metal Arts is announcing the opening of the Second Annual Charles Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition. The deadline for entries is July 1, 2013. This year we are using an online submission form to streamline the process.

“NOW FOLD THIS: How we are doing it now” is this year’s theme on foldforming at the Center for Metal Arts in downstate New York. Foldform inventor Charles Lewton-Brain returns to the east coast August 2-5, 2013 for this annual intimate event.

The Jurors’ Choice 2012 video from the inaugural Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition has been released. Twenty notable entries, plus the four prize winners, are presented on Youtube for public viewing.

Several hundred entries from as far away as Chile, Argentina, Spain and England poured in for the inaugural Lewton-Brain Foldform Award Competition which ended midnight June 30, 2012. Winners are to be announced at the Annual Conference in August.
