Among a series of cost-cutting measures, on February 20th Amazon shuttered AmazonSmile, its charity donation program -- leaving a funding hole for the hundreds of thousands of nonprofits dependent on the funding they received from the program.

The company known for spearheading "charitable coupons" for the last decade is looking to lend a bigger helping hand during the holidays this year.
