The Goodwill L.I.F.E. Academy, a Lee County Charter School for Students with Developmental Disabilities, has received a $1,500 donation from the North Fort Myers Rotary. The school will use it to help purchase educational materials and technology.

Tickets to the "Tux & Trees" gala are now on sale online and over the telephone. Tux & Trees is the culmination of the week-long Festival of Trees, and is the signature fundraiser of Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida.

For the second consecutive year, the City of Cape Coral is teaming up with Goodwill Secure Shred to provide free secure document destruction. This year's Cape Coral Shred Day will be on November 18 at Cape Coral City Hall.

On Saturday, November 28, the world-renowned "Spirit of the Gulf" women's chorus will perform at Goodwill's Festival of Trees in the Fort Myers River District. The chorale will perform during the Mayor's tree-lighting ceremony.

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida officially opened its twelfth apartment complex on Thursday morning. "Country Cove" is a 14-unit income-subsidized apartment complex for people with disabilities.

Americans are planning to spend less on Halloween this year, and many will turn to thrift stores for DIY costumes. Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida is promoting "A Costume a Day, the Goodwill Way" with homemade costume suggestions.

The Festival of Trees returns to Fort Myers this holiday season to delight Southwest Florida residents. The annual event opens on November 27 and continues through December 2, 2009. The trees will be auctioned at the black-tie Tux and Trees Gala.

To honor "Disability History and Awareness Weeks" in the Lee County School District, students of the L.I.F.E. Academy, a school for students with developmental disabilities, performed the Pledge of Allegiance at the October 6 School Board Meeting.
