Author Dr. Artika R. Tyner announced the upcoming release of her new children's book, "Kwanzaa (Traditions & Celebrations)." The book explores what Kwanza is, its origins, how it's celebrated, and its meaning in African-American culture.

Dr. Artika R. Tyner is a winner in the 2021 Sidewalk Poetry Competition for her submission. Her entry paid tribute to the historic Rondo neighborhood where she grew up. The contest is part of the city's $1 million sidewalk replacement project.

The 2021 Communities Create: Youth Literature Program winner is Zephaniah Martin for his book "Jaheem's First Kwanzaa." The initiative is a program of the nonprofit organization, Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute (PPGJLI).
