Wayne Brower, director of Wake Tech’s Fire Services program, has been awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. The award, given by the governor’s office, is North Carolina’s highest civilian honor.

Wake Tech Community College hosted commencement exercises for fall 2012 graduates today in the gymnasium on Main Campus. More than 500 students received degrees and diplomas in two ceremonies. Graduates ranged in age from 19 to 58.

Wake Tech has been awarded the largest grant in its 50-year history: $2.95 million for a new training program that will be the first of its kind in the nation. The federal funds will allow Wake Tech to develop training in business analytics.

Wells Fargo has announced a $250,000 donation to the Wake Tech Foundation’s major gifts campaign, called “The Ripple Effect.” The generous gift will fund the Wake Tech/Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship.
