Attendees of the December Music of the Carolinas concert at the NC Museum of History are asked to bring at least two cans of food to donate to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC. The free concert features bluegrass band Nixon, Blevins & Gage.

With Donna the Buffalo headlining the Countdown to Midnight and four sets by Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass on the Traditional Stage, plus other performers to be announced, First Night Raleigh will showcase music traditions from NC and beyond.

PineCone & the NC Museum of History present a free concert by Triangle-based Magnolia Klezmer Band as part of the Music of the Carolinas series on Sunday, Nov. 14. The exhibit Down Home: Jewish Life in North Carolina will be open throughout the day.

Music scholar and Washington radio personality Dick Spottswood has written a new book about NC-born banjo player Wade Mainer, and on Sept. 21, area musicians and music fans will gather in Chapel Hill for a tribute to this legendary musician.

PineCone's 2010-2011 Down Home Concert Series highlights musical traditions from around the world that have become a part of North Carolina's own musical heritage. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 2 to PineCone members and Aug. 9 to the general public.
