San Francisco Contemporary Music Players

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players are pleased to announce the appointment of Rozella Floranz Kennedy as Executive Director, effective July 16, 2012.

SFCMP announces the TenFourteen Project: ten works commissioned from an international group of distinguished composers. The works will be performed in San Francisco during the 2014-15 season, under the direction of Artistic Director Steven Schick.

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players will present "Zone 2: in which an indispensable morphology is identified" on Monday, November 14, 2011, at 8 p.m. in Herbst Theatre. Artistic Director Steven Schick will host a preconcert talk at 7:15 p.m.

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players will explore John Cage’s "Credo in Us" on Sunday, November 13, 4:30 p.m. at ODC Dance Commons. Artistic Director Steven Schick will perform and host. A wine reception follows the one-hour event.

SFCMP begins its 41st season, entitled "Zones of Intensity", with a concert at Herbst Theatre on Monday Oct. 3, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. The performance marks the beginning of Steven Schick’s inaugural season as Artistic Director of the ensemble.

SFCMP will be joined by composer John Luther Adams for a performance and discussion of excerpts from his "Clouds of Forgetting, Clouds of Unknowing" on Sunday Oct. 2, 2011, 4:30 p.m. at ODC Dance Commons.

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players announce their 2011-2012 season.

The San Francisco Contemporary Music Players are pleased to announce the appointment of internationally renowned conductor and percussionist Steven Schick as Artistic Director.

SFCMP will perform and discuss Ronald Bruce Smith’s "Four Movements" at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. Part of the ensemble’s Contemporary Insights: Music and Conversations series, this event will include discussion of the piece and a reception.

SFCMP continues its 40th Anniversary Season with a concert of four contemporary works, including two world premieres. Donato Cabrera will conduct. Works by György Ligeti, Du Yun, Ronald Bruce Smith, and Brian Current will be performed.
