Sunny Nash, award-winning author of Bigmama Didn't Shop at Woolworth's, is among distinguished scholars and historians to contribute to the African American National Biography, produced by Harvard University and published by Oxford University Press.

Ernest McBride, Sr., was born in 1909, the year the NAACP was founded. In 1940, McBride founded the Long Beach, California, Branch of the NAACP. He and Sunny Nash wrote the story of his life, which spanned nearly the entire Twentieth Century.
