Lead Agencies sought to provide and coordinate senior services in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry Lee, and Sarasota Counties in Florida.

The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida urges local residents to take some time to connect with a senior during the holiday season. Maintaining connections with our elders can help to ensure their well-being and protect them from abuse.

Elder care and disability service providers encouraged to submit information for inclusion

Federal lawmakers are threatening to eliminate the funding for all State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP) like SHINE. These programs provide free, unbiased, personalized assistance to seniors as they attempt to navigate the Medicare maze.

SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) counselors are available at the Fruitville Public library by appointment only. SHINE counselors provide free, unbiased Medicare guidance during Medicare Open Enrollment and year-round.
