This is the 4th and final blog on laos titled hill tribes. Currently I am in northern Vietnam on a 3 day motorcycle trek.

The religious and cultural centre of Laos is the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang. Nestled at the junction of the Khan and Mekong rivers, this charming town is one of Southeast Asia’s most magical places.

Thought of as the most enigmatic of the three French Indochina states, Laos is definitely the sleepiest. At least for the moment.

Despite being a friendly and laid-back Buddhist country, Laos has a few unique hazards which visitors need to be aware of before arrival.

Considered by many seasoned travellers to be the untapped gem of Southeast Asia, the diverse landlocked country of Laos is full of surprises.

We arrived in Luang Prabang after a wee hiccup at the airport due to our two day overstay. Actually the immigration officer was very apologetic which was strange as it was completely our fault.
