California Olive Oil Council awarded its Pioneer Award to Nancy Ash, an olive oil consultant, educator and expert in tasting olive oils.

Olive growers can test oil content, moisture, total phenol and acidity in olive fruit for better timing of harvest. These testings complement the quality analysis done in olive oil as required by law for Extra Virgin Olive Oil certification.
