Artist Lenore Simon was asked how she came to create a series of artworks entitled “Symbols of my People”. She describes how she was inspired when she accidentally destroyed her father-in-law's prayer shawl.

Curator Carlotta Owens notified us that the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC had acquired one of Simon's pieces for their collection. She tactfully asked where and when Simon was born and if she was still alive.

Lenore Simon is an 82 year-old artist who is holding an exhibition of her early and recent works. The range of works reflects her constantly evolving view of our society. The National Gallery in Washington DC acquired one of Simon's early works.
