The annual Atlas Van Lines Migration Patterns study provides a snapshot of relocation patterns. The 2013 data shows that several northern states in the West and Midwest regions were popular destinations this year. Many other states were balanced.

10 states shift to balanced states; Popular destinations remain Southwest and Mid-Atlantic Coastal States.

Midwest continues to lose residents, while southern states are gaining.

As the country embarks on the busiest moving season of the year, Atlas asked its approximately 3,000 professional van operators (PVOs) to identify the most interesting belongings they’ve been asked to move.
