The special showing of this anti-slavery movie is one of the events the FOH is sponsoring as part of the year long commemoration of the 200th birthday of "the Great Emancipator":President Abraham Lincoln,which will take place on February 12, 2009.
The first policewoman hired in the United States was Lola Greene Baldwin, who was hired in Portland,Oregon on April 1, 1908. The Friends of History at Portland State University will be marking the event with a free multi-media presentation.
