Ceresana has analyzed the European market for food packaging in all categories except beverages. The new study takes into account not only films, pouches, cans, tubes, jars and other primary packaging, but also secondary and transport packaging.

According to the latest edition of the Ceresana report on bioplastics, the global market for "green" polymers will continue to grow dynamically: the analysts expect bioplastics sales to rise to around USD 9.7 billion by 2031.

Ceresana has analyzed the European market for plastic films for the second time. This includes flexible plastic bags and sacks, but also packaging films, shrink and stretch films, agricultural films and other films, such as construction foils.

Ceresana expects global demand for plastic masterbatches to rise to almost 5.5 million tonnes by 2031.

Ceresana expects demand for plastic windows to start growing again from 2023, especially for renovation and non-residential construction: the analysts anticipate average global growth of 1.8% p.a. until 2031.

Despite crises and conflicts, nearly 57 million tonnes of plastics were sold in Europe last year, around 3 million tonnes more than in 2015.

Manufacturers of paints and coatings are particularly dependent on the construction industry, but benefit less directly from government support programs than producers of insulation materials, for example.

Ceresana has analyzed the world market for plastics additives: Fillers, plasticizers, pigments and dyes, flame retardants, antioxidants, light stabilizers and heat stabilizers, but also, for example, foaming agents, impact modifiers and lubricants.

Insulation manufacturers and processors can benefit from investments in energy efficiency and energy saving.
