One thousand guests will have the opportunity to hear from Governor Kitzhaber, Nike V.P. Tim Hershey, Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson and former Portland Trail Blazer Terry Porter in celebration of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest is the beneficiary of $445,000 from Nike, with individual gifts from Nike employees continuing to stream in.

Big Brothers Big Sisters embarked on a photojournalism project last summer in an effort to Tell the Story of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a beneficiary of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds’ 2010 annual New York Gala. The support will be used to expand the mentoring organization’s workplace mentoring program for approximately 40 local children in need.

In an effort to provide more African American children with African American mentors, Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest will host the African American Evening of Impact, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at the Rose Room at the Rose Quarter.

In celebration of Peter Harlin and Matt Jungs’ 25 years as financial advisers, Waddell & Reed will host a Bikes for Kids Charity event to build and gift new bicycles to at-risk children in the local community.

Each year Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses for their efforts in serving at-risk children in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
