Home prices in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market reached somewhat firmer ground in October even as the volume of homes changing hands continued to decline.

The real estate professionals at RE/MAX Elite in Hinsdale, Ill., are doing their part to spread some cheer this holiday season. The brokerage will hold a toy drive on Nov. 26 to benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Home sales activity in the metropolitan Chicago real estate market registered a solid gain of 11 percent for the first nine months of 2010 when compared to the same period in 2009, reports RE/MAX.
