QuickTime did not have an appropriate MPEG-2 codec, Apple’s own MPEG-2 codec for Quicktime can help play video with QuickTime, however it’s impossible to import to iMovie, Final Cut, or Avid for edit, and unable to transfer to iPod, etc to enjoy.
