Today's announcement by our former colleague Frank Karlitschek, that he intends to launch a competitive product to ownCloud into the market using recently poached developers, has both surprised us and - admittedly - disappointed us.

Foundation Board will consist of members of open source community, contributors, users and commercial entities, all dedicated to the success and continuity of the ownCloud open source file sync and share project.

Led by ownCloud CEO Markus Rex, the new board also includes General Catalyst managing director Larry Bohn, Red Hat general manager and vice president Craig Muzilla and Power Strategy president David Power.
