On October 1, 2012, SGS has been awarded the Nadcap Merit Status for the Material Testing Laboratories (MTL) sector and is the only independent testing facility in Germany providing Nadcap MTL Certification for metallography and hardness testing.

In order to prevent risks arising from the use of childcare articles in France, the safety requirements for childcare articles are regulated in the national French decree 91-1292.

From August 21-22, 2012, SGS led two expert panels at the semiannual apparel tradeshow MAGIC in Las Vegas. The expert discussions addressed the various sourcing solutions in the ASEAN region.

On January 2, 2013, the new RoHS 2 directive 2011/65/EU will come into force. For products that only now fall within the scope of RoHS 2, the regulation comes into force on July 22, 2019.
