In July 2012, the European Commission expert group on Toy Safety has published a large number of guidance documents intended to help on interpretation issues related to the Toy Directive.

On July 13, 2012, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a reminder regarding the enhanced labeling regulations for food allergens which came into effect on August 4, 2012. The regulations were announced on February 16, 2011.

In July 2012, ASTM International published a revised ASTM F2194 standard for Bassinets and Cradles. The revised standard includes updates to some existing requirements and some additional new safety requirements and replaces the 2010 version.

California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has recently released the latest draft version of the Safer Consumer Products Act, commonly known as the "Green Chemistry Initiative", for public comment until September 11, 2012.
