SGS Consumer Testing Services

The increasing use of electronic user manuals is helping consumers spend less time dealing with installations and maintenance and more time enjoying their electronic products. E-manuals are becoming a solution for a wide range of electronic products.

On June 30, 2011, SGS will hold a workshop entitled ‘Reliability and Durability of Solar Modules – Requirements for Quality Assurance’ at the Bio-Innovations-Zentrum in Dresden, Germany.

On March 28, 2011 the SGS Solar Test House was certified by IECEE as an accredited testing laboratory in the CB program. As one of five German CB Testing Labs (CBTL), SGS now offers solar panel manufacturers a faster route to international markets.

On 18 April 2011, SGS Testing Korea Co., Ltd. has been accredited as a Certified Body Technical Lab (CBTL) for Medical Devices and their relevant IEC standards. The lab is the fourth CBTL within the SGS network.

In order to prevent contamination and detect levels of radiation, authorities in some countries have ordered more stringent border controls for products coming from Japan and surrounding Asian countries.

SGS has introduced brand new testing applications at its CDMA wireless testing laboratory in San Diego. Tests are now available for handsets and smart phones designed to run on GSM and WCDMA networks.

The ISO26000 Standard has now been published. The Guidance on Social Responsibility had long been awaited, and as of November 2010 the wait is over.

Awaiting implementation in July 2011, the new EU 2009/48/EC Toy Safety Directive (TSD) realises the European Parliament demand for greater technical documentation and further responsibilities for toy manufacturers and importers.

With the new SGS Tesco’s i-manuality Solution concept, user communication has been revolutionized and an innovative and user-oriented approach to user manuals and user communication is now on offer.

The 2011 PCF World summit, a two day event to be held in Zurich, Switzerland, will feature presentations from SGS expert Dr Ahmad Ansari. Furthermore, SGS executive Jonathan Hall will participate in a discussion at the event.
