Center for Excellence in Education

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) and KBR will host two distinctive Bite of Science dinner events for high school teachers in Houston, Texas.

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) announces that 2012 Research Science Institute (RSI) Alumna, Sara Volz of Colorado Springs, CO, was awarded the $100,000 First Place Award in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search.

Teachers will have the opportunity to hear Drs. Rohr and Woolf speak about cutting edge research areas, view a laboratory demonstration if possible, and find out how to connect the research to the high school classroom and laboratory.

The Bite of Science events brings together teachers with leading and cutting edge scientists and/or engineers over an informal dinner. Teachers have the opportunity to interact with researchers from industry, academia, and government.

CEE sponsors the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), the U.S. Physics Team, and the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP). All of the Center’s programs are designed to assure U.S. innovation and competitiveness.

CEE has contributed to the scientific leadership of this country since it’s founding in 1983 by the late Admiral H.G. Rickover, the father of the nuclear navy and civilian uses of nuclear power, and Joann DiGennaro, CEE’s President.

TEP Teacher Roundtables are hosted by CEE for science teachers throughout the state of Virginia to discuss critical science and laboratory education. These meetings will serve to share ideas among teachers, including resources and classroom pedagogy.

CEE, a non-profit organization, nurtures high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and encourages collaboration between and among leaders in the global community.

The Center has launched the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP) to assure a future talented and diverse U.S. workforce in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
