SAN DIEGO (February 27, 2013) – Fourth grade is a critical year. It is when children switch from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” At least that should be the case.

United Way of San Diego County has recruited a new Health Vision Council – a group of accomplished professionals in the health field – who will recommend ways that the nonprofit can collaborate, develop and lead health initiatives.

“Our new board members are all accomplished members of the San Diego community,” said UWSD President and CEO Doug Sawyer.

United Way of San Diego County (UWSD) has invested $14 million dollars and achieved substantial community improvements since 2006.

Funded and facilitated by the United Way of San Diego County, Project 25 is a vital and historic collaboration with the County of San Diego and City of San Diego/San Diego Housing Commission.
