The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Organized by the Institute of Textiles and Clothing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Fifth International Symposium of Intimate Apparel was held on 26 March to promote the latest development of intimate apparel.

This year, about 400 guests have rendered support to the "PolyU Charity Dinner 2012". Over HK$5.5 million was raised during the dinner held on 9 March at Hotel ICON. The net proceeds will be used to support "PolyU Serves" Community Service Campaign.

The Speech Therapy Unit newly set up by the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies (CBS) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was officially opened on 3 March.

The signing of an MoU has paved the way for PolyU to work together with KMITL and the Expressway Authority of Thailand on the establishment of a Research Centre on Transportation Technology and Railway Engineering.

With the sophisticated use of construction process simulation technology and positioning technologies such as GPS, researchers of PolyU have developed an integrated system which can uplift the standard of construction safety.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is pleased to have received a set of five special sculptures titled "Vision" from renowned sculptor Professor Norman Ko Wah-man as a gift for its 75th anniversary.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will introduce a credit-bearing “service-learning” requirement in the new four-year curriculum starting from 2012. All undergraduate students are expected to apply their knowledge to serve the community.

At the start of 2012, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is pleased to see another two top academics joining its faculties and schools, adding to its pool of talents before the implementation of four-year curriculum in September 2012.

With the support of all faculty and school members, students and alumni, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is organising the International Week for the second year from 6 to 11 February with the theme of “Global Citizens”.

Backed by strong support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has brought together multi-disciplinary expertise for the establishment of Hong Kong’s first Design Institute for Social Innovation.
