Keeping score for the Apache Junction High School baseball team was a bit like working an abacus.

In an effort to reduce negativity, self-help authors Sally Marks and Jacqueline Howard have discounted their popular, self-improvement book, "Erase Negativity and Embrace the Magic Within" by 50% from March 5 to 11, 2023.

Third grade students from Peralta Trail Elementary School received a unique educational experience at the Dons Discovery Camp. The outing consisted of a one-day field trip into the Superstition Mountain wilderness.

Journalism students and yearbook staff at Cactus Canyon Jr. High, 801 W. Southern Ave. in Apache Junction recently received good news - the 2022 Oro yearbook has been named a finalist for a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Crown Award.

Apache Junction Unified School District will conduct kindergarten registration and host a fun kick-off event for incoming kindergartners for the 2022 –2023 school year on Feb. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Desert Vista Elementary School, 3701 E. Broadway Ave.

In an effort to recruit top candidates for numerous job position, Apache Junction Unified School District is hosting three Job Fairs on Feb. 11, March 20 and April 1 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the AJUSD District Office, 1575 W. Southern Ave.

Student thespians tackle the Crusades in a fun and irreverent way for the production of "Spamalot" at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17 at the Performing Arts Center, 2525 S. Ironwood Drive in Apache Junction. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students.

An increase in school bus vandalism is having an impact on the Apache Junction Unified School District fleet. Several buses – many newer models – are being marred with graffiti and several seats have been sliced.

Members of the Apache Junction High School Thespian Troupe competed at the East Regional Festival on Jan. 21 and returned with a handful of awards. Katherine Davis received a Superior rating in Solo Musical.
