Oxnard Salsa Festival

Festival organizers are now accepting applications from local dance and vocal performers who would like to showcase their artistic talent on the festival's Community Stage.

Restaurants and markets submitted 15 salsas ranging from mild to hot.

About 35,000 festivalgoers are treated each year to live Latin and salsa bands, get a chance to show off their dance moves and sample a variety of flavors in the salsa tasting tent.

Escovedo is known worldwide for his live performances, session work and solo albums. For more than 50 years he has been breaking down the barriers between smooth jazz, salsa, Latin jazz and contemporary music.

Sponsorship applications are being accepted for the 26th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival, July 27 and 28.

This year's festival has it all—percussion, salsa, Latin beats and Cuban classics. Sit back and enjoy the music or step out onto the festival's dance floor and show off your moves.

The contest puts a salsa twist on the hit TV show "Dancing With The Stars." Local celebrities are paired with the area's top dance instructors. Each team works on choreographed moves in preparation for the festival showdown.

The Salsa Challenge is open to amateur salsa chefs. Entrants will need to bring 16 ounces of their salsa to the festival on the morning of July 29.

Performers of all ages—from pre-school dance ensembles to local mariachi bands—are welcome.
