What a great birthday present! NOLA's Royal Family of Music is encouraged! Great news on the day before his birthday, especially after the recent loss of their "Young Lion" David Russell Batiste.

"Season of Black Art" (SOBA), curated through February 2024 held its successful kickoff October 29th. The newly launched continuum of creativity, SOBA celebrates Black Music from Motown to Jazz to Gospel to Funk to Hip Hop as the beat goes on!

Tonight is the last chance to see the South African musical delegation in New Orleans at SNUG HARBOR JAZZ BISTRO following tour teaching students and honoring late Ambassador James Joseph & David Russell Batiste Jr. in honor of NOSACONN's 25th Year!

Eight South African cultural ambassadors have arrived in New Orleans as part of cultural exchange between South Africa and New Orleans honoring two late cherished Louisiana citizens in coordination with New Orleans South Africa Connection NOSACONN

The Sunday launch of "The Season of Black Art" kicks off the monthly arts presentations with Black Literature, Narratives & Business at the African American Art & Culture Complex premiering the AAACC Creative Cohorts of the Dream Keeper Initiative.

Russell Batiste Band members will be joined by special guests including Leo Nocentelli, June Yamagishi, Jason Mingledorf, Jazmine Butler, Jamal Batiste and other Batiste Family members during time slot originally planned for Batiste to perform.

From the Church, To the Cemetery to the Howling Wolf, The celebrations have initiated the beginning efforts to benefit Batiste's children, his youth mentees and other musicians.

Collaborating with the CA Office Partnership and Strategic Communications, the culturally relevant campaign, "Get Ready and Stay Prepared", began in Los Angeles, Oakland/East Bay, San Francisco, Fresno and Inland Empire in July.

The elegant Miss Universe Nicaragua, Sheynnis Palacios, and the charismatic Miss Universe Honduras, Zuheilyn Clemente, top contenders for the upcoming November pageant, will be in LA (Louisiana) in preparation for the opportunity to wear the crown.

The Oakland Int'l Film Festival is presented by the Oakland Film Society, a non-profit based in Oakland, California with the mission to promote independent filmmakers & their stories to empower people locally, nationally & internationally.
