The North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) announced Jan. 31, 2012 that SOUTH COUNTY TOURISM COUNCIL won GOLD AND BRONZE place in the 2011 Annual NATJA Awards Competition in the MOBILE WEBSITE AND TRAVEL GUIDE category.

On Jan. 8, 2012, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., South County’s finest wedding vendors take center stage at the 5th Annual South County Bridal Show at the Towers, 35 Ocean Rd., Narragansett. This event exclusively features South County wedding professionals.

South County, RI with 100 miles of beautiful coastal beaches, sensational accommodations- including Westerly’s five star Ocean House, and plenty of activities for families, is naturally positioned as a vacation destination for Chinese visitors.

For Halloween aficionados, three local attractions offer gore, ghouls and groans to satisfy fear fans. On the tamer, family-oriented genre, there are pumpkin patches where the most frightening person is the scarecrow.

Wakefield, R.I. - South County Tourism Council celebrated their 10th Annual Photo Contest with over 73 entrants totaling more than 600 photographs capturing the beauty of South County’s 449 square mile tourism region!

Summer is South County, RI’s favorite season and we make sure to enjoy it as long as possible. A mere calendar change from August to September does not deter our avid beachgoers, festival and music fans.

History buffs and beach aficionados are both perfectly at home in South County, RI. The state's history begins with Roger Williams who staked his claim in North Kingstown with Richard Smith and Edward Wilcox after fleeing the Massachusetts colony.

The North Kingstown Arts Council and Swamptown Enterprises will host a celebration of songs of the sea and the hale and hearty men who sang them July 23, 2-4 p.m. on the waterfront grounds of Smith’s Castle, 55 Richard Smith Dr, North Kingstown, RI
