Despite in-person pandemic restrictions, the YMCA branches in the Conejo and Simi valleys served over 10,000 residents in 2021.

Visitors during the two events will be able to take part in exercise classes and tour the facilities. For kids, there will be face painting, arts and crafts, games and a scavenger hunt.

The local YMCA branches introduced SAW four years ago. Since then, over 1,000 children have participated in the program.

YMCA branches serving the Conejo Valley/Las Virgenes, Simi Valley and Moorpark areas have a limited number of openings left for children in TK through fifth grade for YMCA after-school childcare programs.

Gala proceeds will support YMCA classes and programs including Find My Genius, a no-cost summer achievement gap program serving low- and moderate-income students who are not reading at grade level.

The program is offered at no cost to low- and moderate-income students entering K-6th grades who are not reading at grade level.

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA and the Columbia Memorial Space Center have collaborated on a new advanced STEM program for local middle schoolers. The YMCA's STEM Club begins October 19 with virtual meetings.
