United Way of St. Joseph County is requesting its fellow community members make an impact during tax season by becoming an IRS-Certified VITA Volunteer.

People Gotta Eat is set to host the 3rd annual FOODSTOCK concert benefitting food pantries in South Bend and Mishawaka on Sunday, Oct 21, from 4-8 PM at Little Flower Catholic Church – 54181 Ironwood Road, South Bend.

During deer season, hunters who wish to donate deer meat to neighbors in need can do so by collaborating with People Gotta Eat. Meat should be delivered to Jawaorski’s Meat Market, who will process the deer meat for a reduced fee of $50 per deer.

"X1 Restore the Outdoors" will take a photo and share it on Facebook. For every "Like", BMW will donate one dollar to that location — up to $10,000 for each location. BMW stopped at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore on Friday, August 3.

United Way announces its campaign goal of $3M. In addition, UW will be seeking supplementary revenue through sponsorships, grants, administrative fees, initiatives, etc, placing United Way’s goal for total revenue raised for 2012-2013 at $3.7M.

On July 19, the Dunes National Park Association Board of Directors presented a $2,500 check to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (INDU) for the purchase of 500 backpacks for children who will be participating in the Nature in My Neighborhood Program.

This tax season, United Way of St. Joseph County's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program helped over 1,500 taxpayers in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph County with free tax preparation and e-filing.

Last week, The Law Office of Alan D. Naggatz won a three-day-long personal injury trial that awarded the plaintiff with $120,000.

After two years of hard work, Tuesday, May 22, marked the official launch of the Dunes National Park Association (DNPA), a nonprofit whose mission is to preserve, protect and promote Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

United Way of St. Joseph County (UWSJC) was given the opportunity to partner with Net Literacy to distribute 70 computers to local, deserving nonprofit organizations.
