Compassion is a beautiful thing. Most of us are familiar with the word but what exactly is it? Compassion is more than empathy. Empathy is feeling the feelings of another or understanding the feelings of another as your own.

People are coming forward everyday realizing that they finally want to take action on serving the dying and their families.

Today we are talking with a hospice chaplain in Texas who has been working in hospice for several years. He has a music ministry that has brought much joy to the people he serves Blane Brazier has worked full time in hospice since 2008.

This past holiday season (2015) I created a series I called "Life and Grief Through the Holidays." We all go through loss and it is devastating regardless of the time of year.

We all face loss. There is no getting around that. What makes the holidays more painful sometimes is because there are more triggers during this time of year.

There is an explosive "movement" of individuals wanting to serve people at the end of life in ways we have not seen before. Many people have been doing this through hospital and hospice volunteering.

Who better to talk with than an ER nurse about care issues with the terminally ill and the dying in emergency rooms in America? Amanda has worked in a few around the country and has a great perspective on this.
