SME Education Foundation

Secondary-school students who are aspiring to careers in technology and engineering will be attending Gateway Academy summer camps and taking part in an innovative pre-engineering curriculum created by Project Lead The Way.

As one of the nation's leading non-profit organizations dedicated to manufacturing education, the SME Education Foundation continues to recognize exemplary students pursuing manufacturing degrees by awarding annual Family and Director Scholarships.

The SME Education Foundation will expand its 2009 Gateway Academy pre-engineering program in the Kansas City, Mo. metropolitan area thanks to a $60,000 matching grant awarded by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

Students pursuing careers in machining technology can access scholarships available through the SME Education Foundation, thanks to funding from the Gene Haas Foundation.

The SME Education Foundation's support of Engineering Week 2009 included "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day," "Future City Competition, judging of the Best Manufacturing Zone Special Award, and an educational DVD, "Innovate: Engineering Change."
