Southeast Ventura County YMCA

Each year, over 44,000 Americans die by suicide and for every suicide, there are 25 who attempt to end their life.

The afternoon will include obstacle courses, music, games and more. It is designed to introduce parents and their kids to the program.

Children learn how to respond if they find themselves in unexpected water situations including how to float on their backs, reach the water's surface if they become submerged, safely reach a pool's edge and how to safely exit any body of water.

On Saturday, April 29, the Conejo Valley and Miller Family YMCAs will hold a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active in summer.

Rob McCoy, pastor at GodSpeak Calvary Chapel in Newbury Park and a Thousand Oaks City Council member, is the keynote speaker.
