PineCone - Piedmont Council of Traditional Music

Hot Rize took the bluegrass world by storm with their fresh, contemporary approach to traditional music. These bluegrass legends play in Raleigh one night only - Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in Meymandi Concert Hall at the Progress Energy Center.

Fall in love with the Toronto-based Good Lovelies in Raleigh on Oct. 6! Part folk-roots, part Western swing, the Good Lovelies offer unerring three-part harmonies and clever songs and stories. This concert is part of their first NC tour.

Three music ensembles with connections to the Creedmoor, NC Landis Family will perform at South Granville High School on August 28 at 4 p.m. as part of the 77th annual Landis family reunion. The concert is open to the public; admission: $5/person.

PineCone's 2011-2012 Down Home Concert Series features blues legend Taj Mahal; bluegrass supergroup Hot Rize; folk music icons Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky; NC's own David Holt, Bryan Sutton, The Kruger Brothers, and more!

The dedication ceremony for the new Cary Arts Center will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13; singer-songwriters Larkin Poe perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. All Arts Center events on Aug. 13, including the concert, are free and open to the public.

PineCone presents rising Americana music stars Mandolin Orange in Wake Forest, NC on Sunday, August 7 beginning at 5 p.m. This concert is free and open to the public.

Musicians & music fans will gather at the Busy Bee Café on Monday, July 25 in Raleigh to celebrate the PineCone Bluegrass Jam's one-year anniversary in that venue. Busy Bee will donate 10% of food & drink sales in The Hive to PineCone.

Join PineCone and the Town of Cary for a special night of music featuring The Shady Grove Band and students from the PineCone Bluegrass Music Camp! This concert is on Friday, July 1. It begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Ever wonder how they play those castanets, or how flamenco dancers make the sounds with their feet and keep time with those amazing rhythmic handclaps? Carlota Santana will lead a workshop to teach some of the secrets behind the art of flamenco.

PineCone is thrilled to shine the spotlight on some of the music traditions of Eastern North Carolina Piedmont by presenting The Monitors. This concert will take place on June 11 at Bond Park in Cary, and it is free and open to the public.
