The Board of Directors of United Way of St. Joseph County has announced a community distribution of nearly $2 million in funds raised to support health and human service programs in St. Joseph County.

With the impact of the economic recession, many businesses faced financial challenges throughout 2010. Simultaneously, human needs continued to rise and not-for-profit community organizations now face impending federal, state and local budget cuts.

United Way of St. Joseph County encourages community members to donate non-perishable items (canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, dish soap, shampoo, etc.) to the National Associaton of Letter Carriers' food drive, Saturday May 14th, 2011.
