Pastry Live

Seven advanced pastry students from schools across the country competed in the Student Chocolate Challenge during Pastry Live Weekend. Rebecca Schappell of the Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts won first place with her well designed showpiece.

With her Andy Warhol inspired design, Dawn Joy Stoika of Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center won Pastry Live's 2012 Art of Cake competition. Additional winners included Dawn Davis in second place with Vinny Garcia taking third.

From August 3rd - August 5th, Pastry Live successfully hosted Pastry Live Weekend. Featured were cutting edge seminars instructed by the industry's best and competitions in which veteran chefs and rising stars displayed their immeasurable talents.

Pastry Live Weekend 2012 will feature pastry seminars taught by the industry's premier talents, again offering valuable knowledge needed to get to the next level. Heated competitions will also be hosted, highlighting chefs from across the country.

Announcing the 2012 National Showpiece Championship team captains! These chefs are among the best in their field, touting impressive skills in both chocolate and sugar work. August 5th, each will compete for the title of National Showpiece Champion.

On Sunday, August 28th America’s top pastry chefs competed for the title of National Showpiece Champions. Five teams gathered in Atlanta, Georgia to battle it out using either chocolate or sugar as their medium of choice.

On Sunday, August 28th, Pastry Live hosted the Art of Cake competition in which cake artists gathered to exhibit their cake sculpting skills. Out of six talented competitors, Katharina Craine's highly detailed piece was awarded first place.

On Saturday, August 27th, six Art Institute of Atlanta pastry students competed to win up to $2,500 in scholarship prizes. Each student had one hour to temper their chocolate and assemble their showpieces in front of the judges.

On Sunday, August 28th Chef Lionel Clement of Nuubia Chocolat won Pastry Live's first annual Chocolatier of the Year competition. His uniquely designed chocolates displayed creativity and good execution, earning him the prestigious title.

Pastry Live Weekend, successfully hosted by Pastry Live from August 26th - August 28th, featured seminars held by some of the industry’s best pastry artists and competitions in which competitors from across the country displayed their talents.
