SGS has widened its scope for Non-Destructive Testing in the energy industry, enabling the extension of testing activities to the nuclear sector.

From January 24th to 27th, 2011, SGS will attend the American Petroleum Institute (API) Inspection Summit & Expo in Galveston, Texas. At stand 101, SGS will demonstrate a wide range of services for the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.

On November 29, 2010, SGS Industrial Services appointed Len Beale as Vice President Infrastructure and Building, based in the United Kingdom. Len will focus on the management of global business development for infrastructure and building.

In December 2010, SGS announced Paul Zieger to head its newly opened Global Supply Chain Services Competence Center in Vienna, Austria. Paul assumed responsibility for the leadership of the center.

Gestió d'Infraestructures S.A. (GISA), managing infrastructure for the local government of Catalonia in Spain, has awarded SGS Industrial Services a Technical Assistance Contract for the Quality Control of building projects in the design stage.

Recognizing the environmental advantages of electrical mobility, the Instituto para la Diversificacion Ahorro de la Energia (IDAE) is creating a hallmark for Spanish cities. SGS helps to enable the realization of the Spanish aims.

In October 2010, SGS appointed Jale Cairney as the new Vice President Global Risk Management. Starting in January 2011, Jale will focus on the development of the Global Risk Management Competence Center for the SGS Industrial Services business line.

SGS will attend the Offshore Wind Logistics 2011 Conference in London, from January 19-20, 2011. On the first day of the conference, SGS Risk Management expert, Jale Cairney, will give a speech on the Risk Management of Wind Farm Project Logistics.

SGS recently organized two seminars on Guided Wave, an advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method. The seminars were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 9th, 2010 and in Santiago, Chile, on November 11th, 2010.

SGS announced Laurent Pradere as the new Global Sales Manager for Industrial Services in Europe. Due to his extensive Sales and Marketing know-how, Laurent Pradere will focus on supporting the growth of SGS Industrial Services in this region.
