Flag football season is almost here at the Miller Family YMCA. Sign ups and skill assessments will take place Saturday, October 23 at Dos Vientos Park and Saturday November 6 at Peppertree Park in Newbury Park, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. both days.

The YMCA childcare site at Mountain Meadows Elementary School (4200 Mountain Meadows Drive) in Moorpark will host a "Parents Night Out," Friday, October 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

With mid-term elections right around the corner, teens in Newbury Park have the opportunity to get a first-hand look into how the government works. The Miller Family Y's Youth & Government is accepting applications to the program.

As the new school year begins, a full schedule of enrichment programs are slated for Conejo Valley YMCA childcare sites in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark.

Katie Beck, previously the Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator for the Miller Family YMCA in Newbury Park, is returning as the Y's executive director.

The Fitter & Faster Tour, which gives kids ages 5 through 18 the opportunity to swim with and learn from Olympic swimmers, is coming to the Conejo Valley on Sept. 11.

Students entering 9 through 12 grades can attend a free September 9 Triunfo YMCA Youth & Government information barbeque in Oak Park. Youth & Government brings together teenagers from around the state to learn about the workings of government.

The Triunfo YMCA will hold an Indian Guides registration barbeque from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12 at Willow Elementary School in Agoura Hills.

The Conejo Valley and Miller Family YMCAs' Indian Guides and Princesses are hosting their annual Raingutter Regattas to kickoff their new year and introduce the programs to parents and kids interested in joining.

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA received nearly $10,000 in grants and contributions this year from Bank of America including a recent $6,000 grant.
